We had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional evening earlier this week, where we were honoured to hear from a delegation from the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board 香港海運港口發展局 (HKMPDB).

🎤 Mr Jeffrey Chim, Principal Assistant Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the HKSAR Government;
🎤 Mr Clarence Leung, Vice President of CDB Aviation Hong Kong.
Their insights highlighted what makes Hong Kong a resilient global hub — from its rule of law, bilingual common law system, and simple tax regime to its strong regional connectivity.
As our President, Michael Buisset, noted, “Regionalisation of the global economy has been developing over the past 20 years, and this trend will continue, making strong regional hubs essential for trading and shipping businesses.”
Today’s global economy is no longer managed from a single location. Successful trading houses and shipping companies increasingly operate through regional hubs across Europe and Asia to remain agile across time zones and closer to key markets, with both Geneva and Hong Kong acting as stable, secure, internationally oriented centres for global trade.
The growing collaboration between Geneva and Hong Kong reflects this reality, with more businesses structuring themselves with regional headquarters, ensuring stronger access to Asian markets while maintaining a European base.
